Lake District based, Ascent Training offers high quality courses, instruction and guiding for rock climbing, winter climbing, summer and winter walking, scrambling and caving. Our mountaineering courses are primarily run in the Lake District; caving courses in the Yorkshire Dales, the Peak District or the Vercors in France and ice climbing/winter mountaineering courses/guiding are run in Scotland, the Lake District or Norway. However rock climbing courses also take place in the Peak District and Wales and guiding can take place anywhere in the UK and also overseas.
Our range of courses caters for the complete novice, those wishing to gain more experience and experienced climbers, walkers and cavers wishing to learn more advanced skills, improve performance, or visit new areas.
Courses are available daily, throughout the year. The course lengths are from two days to a week long. One day lessons are also available. Our aim is to give our clients a well structured course, meeting the needs of each individual. Multi-activity days, stag and hen days are also part of our repertoire.
Paul Platt, who runs Ascent Training, holds both the MIC and CIC qualifications and therefore has a huge amount of experience personally and instructing activities, above and below ground.
In the following pages you will see courses for mountaineering and caving activities on fixed dates. However, if you are unable to make these dates please contact Ascent Training and we will endeavour to arrange a course with dates that suit you.
We are also specialists in 1:1 guiding. Offering a UK based guiding service both above and below ground.
