Navigation for hillwalkers PDF Print E-mail

These two day courses look at all the skills necessary for the British hillwalker to safely navigate around our mountains. These skills include macro and micro navigation, use of a compass and skills such as pacing and timing.

Essential skills such as route finding, skills we need to avoid getting lost and should we do so how to get out of trouble. The use of a GPS will also be covered.

There are two options to this course and the prices are below. One is a basic course and covers the skills above in two days. The other covers all the skills above but has a night navigation element. Being able to navigate of the hill in the dark is an essential skill in the winter months when we may not have snow on the hill but few daylight hours (this option is only available during the Autumn and early Spring).

These courses are not advertised but are run when hillwalkers contact us. They can be run over a two day period either during the week or at weekends.
