This ice climbing course is based in Rjukan the recent ‘hot' spot for ice climbing in Norway.

The area was made famous by a daring raid on a heavy water plant and later the film "The Heroes of Telemark". Over recent years this has become known as a reliable and stunning alternative to alpine ice. With routes of varying lengths from 1 pitch to 17 pitches and easy angle ice to long vertical pitches, plus a good selection of technical mixed routes, there is something for everyone from novice to seasoned winter climber.

Ice Climbing in Norway

This course is aimed at people who have had some rock climbing experience and winter climbing experience but would like to hone there ice climbing ability so they are then self sufficient in future years to climbing in Norway or other ice climbing areas.

It is a perfect place to learn the intricacies of leading on ice and all this entails including placing ice screws, conservation of strength,  psychology of leading, use of tools including leash less, stance and rope management and abseil retreat.

If students' wish to be guided on routes to WI 4/5 then this would also be possible.

The course cost is £700 which includes instruction, travel in Norway and accommodation. Please contact us for more details.
